Bhubaneswar: A 20-year-old youth died after getting electrocuted while refilling a household inverter in Khojapalli village under Khallikote police station limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Deepak Pandi.
As per reports, Deepak was pouring distilled water into the inverter at his residence when he accidentally came in contact with a live wire and received a severe electric shock. Family members pulled him away and immediately took him to Khallikote Hospital for treatment. Doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.
The family, however, alleged that due to the dilapidated condition of the road linking the village to the hospital, they failed to reach the hospital timey. As a result, Pandi was deprived of timely medical care which led to his death.
The incident has triggered grief in Khojapalli village.
Meanwhile, Khallikote police have rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter.
