Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning to fishermen, advising them not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast from today to July 27 due to rough sea conditions and strong winds.
According to the weather bulletin issued Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, squally weather with wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph and gusting up to 55 kmph is very likely to prevail along and off the Odisha coast on July 24 and 25. The wind speed is expected to increase further to 40-50 kmph with gusts reaching 60 kmph on July 26 and 27.
The Met department has also forecast that the sea condition will remain rough to very rough along and off the Odisha coast during this four-day period. In view of the adverse weather, fishermen have been strictly advised not to go into the sea along and off the Odisha coast between July 24 and July 27.
Authorities have urged those already out at sea to return to shore at the earliest.The warning comes amid ongoing monsoon activity along the Bay of Bengal coast.
