Bhubaneswar: A no-confidence motion has been moved against Tikhiri Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Chameli Ojha in Kendrapara district.
Sources said 21 out of 22 ward members have backed the move against the Sarpanch, citing dissatisfaction with her functioning. With such overwhelming support, the motion is set to be put to vote on July 27. The result will decide whether Chameli Ojha retains her post or is ousted from Tikhiri Gram Panchayat.
The Sub-Collector has instructed all ward members to attend the voting as per norms under the Odisha Gram Panchayat Act.
The Sub-Collector has also intimated the Mahakalapada BDO about the proceedings and asked the block office to make necessary arrangements for conducting the vote.
On the other hand, Chameli has launched an indefinite hunger strike at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar, demanding action against the Mahakalpada BDO and local Inspector-in-Charge (IIC). She has brought misbehaviour allegation against the officers during her visit to their office in connection with official work.
