Bhubaneswar: Susanta Singh, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former Odisha Minister, passed away on Monday morning while undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 53.
As per reports, Singh had been suffering from a prolonged and serious illness. His health condition deteriorated sharply this morning, and despite the best efforts of the medical team, he died.
He was elected as a BJD MLA from the Bhatli Assembly constituency in 2009, 2014 and 2019. He also served as the Minister for Labour and Rural Development in the Odisha government.
A three-time MLA from the Bhatali Assembly constituency, he was widely respected for his dedication to public service and development initiatives aimed at improving the lives of ordinary people of his constituency.
News of his demise has cast a pall of gloom over the state’s political circles. Leaders from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and various other political parties have expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences, praying for the eternal peace of his soul.
