Bhubaneswar: Passengers of the Dhauli Express had a narrow escape after smoke was detected emanating from the SLRD (Seating-cum-Luggage Rake) coach of the train at Markona Railway Station late last night.
According to railway officials, smoke was noticed coming from the SLRD coach of Train No. 12821 Dhauli Express around 10:45 pm on Sunday. The train was immediately detained at Markona Station as a precautionary measure.
Railway staff swiftly responded to the situation. After thorough safety checks and ensuring no risk to passengers, the affected SLRD coach was detached from the train. The Dhauli Express resumed its journey safely at 11:52 pm after the detachment of the problematic coach.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among passengers or railway staff. The exact cause of the smoke is still under investigation.
