Former Revenue Inspector  Convicted In Bribery Case, Sentenced To Two Years RI

Bhubaneswar: In a major anti-corruption action, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of Malati Dehury, former Revenue Inspector of Kandarasingha Revenue Circle under Parjang Tahasil in Dhenkanal district.

On Monday, the  Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal convicted Dehury in a bribery case and sentenced her to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years along with a fine.

According to Vigilance, the case was registered after Malati Dehury, who was then posted as RI, Kandarasingha Revenue Circle under Parjang Tahasil, was caught demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant for submitting an enquiry report in a mutation case.

She was charge-sheeted under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.At the time of conviction, Malati Dehury was serving as RI, Panchupada Circle under Hindol Tahasil, Dhenkanal.

Following her conviction, Odisha Vigilance said it will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Malati Dehury from government service.

The conviction is seen as part of the state vigilance department’s ongoing drive against corruption in revenue administration.
