Koraput: A senior official from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, on Tuesday reviewed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 exercise in the Kotia region of Koraput district, with emphasis on ensuring a transparent and error-free electoral roll.

Jitendra Kumar Patra, Deputy Secretary to the Government of Odisha, visited the area to assess the claims and objections phase of the electoral roll revision programme. During the visit, he inspected several polling stations and examined the progress of applications received for inclusion, deletion and correction of names in the voters’ list.

Patra interacted with election officials, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and other field-level personnel to take stock of the revision process. He was briefed on the status of claims and objections and the measures being taken for their timely disposal.

Stressing the importance of an accurate electoral roll, the official directed the field machinery to accord top priority to preparing a clean, impartial and error-free voters’ list. He instructed that all claims and objections be processed strictly in accordance with the prescribed rules and disposed of within the stipulated timeframe.

He also underscored the need to ensure that eligible voters do not face any inconvenience during the revision process.

Officials of the district administration and the election department accompanied Patra during the visit and presented details on the progress of the SIR-2026 exercise, including the number of claims and objections received and the status of their disposal.
