Bhubaneswar: Public darshan at the Shree Jagannath temple in Puri will remain suspended for five hours on Wednesday due to the Banakalagi ritual of the Holy Trinity.
According to a notification issued by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), the Banakalagi Niti of the Deities will be performed on Wednesday, July 29 on the occasion of Ashadha Shukla Byasha Purnima tithi.”
After the completion of the Second Bhoga Mandapa offering, public darshan will remain temporarily suspended from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM,” the SJTA stated.
Banakalagi, also known as Srimukha Srungara, is a special ritual where new faces are painted on the idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.
The ritual is performed periodically as per the temple calendar.Devotees have been requested to plan their visit accordingly.
