Odisha Students To Receive Free Professional Training In Stock Market & Finance

Bhubaneswar: In a major push to boost financial literacy and improve employability, the Odisha Higher Education Department has decided to implement the NSE BFSI Skill Programme across state universities and colleges.

The initiative aims to provide free professional training to students in key areas such as stock markets, mutual funds, insurance, banking, and financial transactions.

The notification issued by the Higher Education Department, students pursuing courses such as Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Commerce, Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Commerce (M.Com) will be provided a 30-hour professional certificate course on mutual funds.

Universities and colleges have been directed to nominate a Nodal Officer for smooth implementation of the programme. Faculty members from Commerce, Management, Economics, or related fields will be preferred for this role.

The programme is being implemented in collaboration with the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSEIL) under the National Skill Development Mission.

The order was issued on July 15, 2026, and has been forwarded to all Vice-Chancellors of state public universities and principals of government and aided colleges for immediate action.

In the first phase, the initiative will be implemented in 97 selected colleges and universities located within a 100-kilometre radius of major cities including Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jeypore, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Rourkela and Sambalpur.
