Rayagada: A woman was killed after a house wall collapsed on her due to continuous heavy rainfall in Muniguda block of Rayagada district.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning at Baghadangari village under Muniguda block. The deceased has been identified as Rukuni Bachha, a resident of the village.
According to reports, Rukuni had gone out early in the morning to attend to nature’s call and was returning home when the weakened mud wall, soaked by days of incessant rain, suddenly collapsed on her.
Villagers rushed to the spot and made frantic efforts to rescue her from under the debris, but she died on the spot. The continuous heavy rainfall over the past several days had severely weakened the structure, leading to the tragic incident.
Local administration has been informed and further details are awaited.
