Bhubaneswar: In view of the imminent flood situation, the Khordha district administration has ordered the closure of all schools across the district till Friday, July 31.
The directive was issued through an urgent letter by District Project Office, Samagra Shiksha, Khordha, to all Block Education Officers in the district. All categories of schools, including Primary, Upper Primary, High Schools, Higher Secondary Schools, government, government-aided, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs), and private schools, will remain closed on July 30 and 31 as a precautionary measure.
Schools have been asked to serve the Mid-Day Meal early on July 30 so that students can return home safely. Teachers and other staff members have been directed to remain present in their respective schools as usual.
The administration has imposed a strict bar on availing Casual Leave (CL) for the next four days. School authorities have also been instructed to keep the school buildings and other necessary facilities ready for possible use as relief centres if required.
The district administration has made it clear that there will be zero tolerance regarding compliance with these directives.
Schools are expected to reopen on August 1, 2026, as per the directions of the Collector and District Magistrate, Khordha. This decision has been taken amid continuing heavy rainfall and the prevailing flood-like situation in several parts of the state.
