Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India has extended the last date for filing claims and objections on the draft electoral rolls under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision 2026 in Odisha till 19th August 2026. An official notification in this regard was published in the Odisha Gazette by the Home (Election) Department today.
According to the revised schedule issued by the ECI, 1st July 2026 will be taken as the eligibility date for inclusion in the voter list. The extension has been made to ensure maximum inclusion of eligible citizens, provide sufficient time to voters, and make the claims and objections process more systematic and inclusive.
On the request of Odisha Chief Electoral Officer R. S. Gopalan, the Election Commission of India has extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under Rule 12 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 till 19th August 2026.Eligible citizens whose names are not included in the electoral roll or who have any errors in their details can submit their applications by 19th August 2026.
New voter registration can be done through Form-6, application for deletion of name can be submitted through Form-7, and application for correction of information in the electoral roll can be made through Form-8. All citizens who have completed 18 years of age as on 1st July 2026 are eligible to apply and have been requested to make use of this opportunity.
As per the revised schedule, the process of issuing notices, hearing and deciding claims and objections will continue till 17th September 2026. Following this, the final electoral roll will be published on 21st September 2026.The Chief Electoral Officer has urged all eligible citizens to take advantage of the extended deadline to get their names included in the voter list or to make necessary corrections.
