Jagatsinghpur: Police busted a suspected sex racket operating from a house near Rahama village under Tirtol police station limits in Jagatsinghpur district on Saturday and detained five persons, including four women and a youth.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Tirtol police station IIC Bansidhar Pradhan raided the house and apprehended the five persons from the spot.
During the raid, police seized Rs 2,100 in cash, condoms, a purse and nine mobile phones from the premises.
Police said some other persons allegedly involved in the racket managed to flee the spot before the team could apprehend them.
The detained persons were taken into custody for questioning. Police are probing their alleged involvement in the racket and are also trying to ascertain whether more people were involved in the operation.
Further investigation is underway.
