Nabarangpur: A couple died on the spot after their car met with an accident near Jhariguda under Dabugan police station limits in Nabarangpur district on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as LIC agent Susanta Panigrahi (48) and his wife Meenakshi (42) of Ichabatiguda, Nabarangpur.
According to reports, the couple had gone to Umerkote in their car (OD 10D 9192) on Friday morning to appear for an LIC examination. After completing the exam, they were returning from Umerkote to Nabarangpur in the afternoon.
At around 4:30 pm, the car lost balance and rammed into a tree on the Jhariguda State Highway under Dabugan police station.On receiving information, Dabugan fire brigade personnel rescued the couple and rushed them to Dabugan Community Health Centre, where doctors declared them brought dead.
Based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s younger brother Santosh Kumar, Dabugan police have registered a case and started further investigation.
