Bhubaneswar: Two Kawadias were reportedly swept away by strong water currents in Lingara Nala near Tipirisingha win Anugola district due to lack of caution. One of them was rescued, while the other has gone missing.
According to reports, the two devotees had gone to the nullah to fetch water for the Jalabhishek ritual at the Tipirisingha temple on the occasion of second Shravan Somvar. Suddenly, a powerful current carried both of them away while collecting water. Locals managed to pull one person to safety, but there has been no sign of the second Kawadia so far.
On receiving information, the Anugola Fire Service team reached the spot and launched an intensive search and rescue operation that is still underway.
Preliminary information suggests the missing Kawadia may be from the Bentapur area of the districts, though his exact identity is yet to be confirmed.
It is pertinent to mention that heavy rainfall has caused the water level in the nullah to rise sharply and the current remains strong.
Meanwhile, the district administration has urged people to exercise extreme caution while going near rivers, nullahs or any water bodies during this period.
