Bhubaneswar: A person died while his son sustained severe injuries after being hit by a bus on Khandagiri overbridge in state capital on Monday morning.
As per reports, vehicular traffic was heavy on the overbridge during the morning hours when the mishap took place. The bus struck the two-wheeler the father-son were travelling in, throwing both the father and son to the roadside.
Upon being informed, Khandagiri police rushed to the spot and shifted the father-son duo to a nearby hospital in an ambulance. Doctors at the hospital declared the father dead on arrival. The son is, meanwhile, undergoing treatment for his critical injuries.
The accident triggered a massive traffic jam on both the overbridge and the road below, with a large crowd gathering at the site.
The vehicles involved in the accident have been seized, and a detailed investigation is underway.
