CRPF, Students March Together During Tiranga Rally At Srinagar’s Lal Chowk

Srinagar: Ahead of the 80th Independence Day, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Tuesday organised a Tiranga Rally with school students at the historic Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, promoting the spirit of patriotism and the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

Students carrying the Tricolour marched alongside CRPF personnel during the rally, paying tribute to the freedom fighters who fought for India’s Independence and the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the nation and serving the country.

CRPF 132 Battalion Srinagar Assistant Commandant, Prahlad Singh, speaking to reporters, said the rally was organised in line with the annual ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, the Prime Minister announced from the Red Fort that a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally would be organised every year on August 15,” Singh said.

“In line with this initiative, we have organised this rally with students from the nearby school. The students are our future, and they will take the country forward. This initiative aims to educate the students about the freedom struggle and the freedom fighters so that they draw inspiration from their sacrifices and develop a desire to serve the country,” the Assistant Commandant added.

The participating students also expressed happiness over being part of the Tiranga Rally and said that such initiatives help young people understand the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle and the contribution of the armed and security forces to the nation.

“We are very happy to participate in this rally. The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally is a great initiative because everyone should know how people sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the nation and how our soldiers have laid down their lives to protect us,” a student told IANS.

“Every household should hoist the Tricolour and learn about the history of India’s freedom struggle and take inspiration from it. The Tiranga should be hoisted to honour our security forces and remember their sacrifices,” another student told IANS.

Another student, speaking to IANS, said, “We are participating in this rally to honour our nation and our security forces. We thank the freedom fighters for their courage and sacrifices. Everyone should participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and join in this effort to honour the nation.”

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was launched under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with the objective of encouraging citizens to bring the national flag into their homes and hoist the Tiranga as part of the celebrations marking India’s Independence.

The campaign was based on the idea that people’s relationship with the national flag had traditionally remained more formal and institutional, rather than becoming a personal expression of national pride.

By encouraging citizens to bring the flag home, the initiative sought to transform the Tiranga into a symbol of a personal connection with the nation while also representing a collective commitment towards nation-building and national unity.

This year, ‘Har Ghar Tiranga 2026’ is being dedicated to the spirit of 150 Years of Vande Mataram, celebrating patriotism, pride in the Tiranga and the deep love for the motherland reflected in India’s National Song.
