Bhubaneswar: When Alisha Rani Pangi welcomed the Chief Minister with a flower bouquet at the Nijukti Mela on Monday, it was a moment of pride for the young woman from Pottangi in Koraput. Moments later, receiving her appointment letter from him made the occasion even more significant.
Alisha, daughter of Balaram Pangi, has been appointed as a Junior Engineer in the Housing & Urban Development Department of the Odisha government and posted to the RWS&S Division in Malkangiri.
For someone who grew up in a rural and tribal part of Odisha, the appointment represents more than just a career milestone. It is the culmination of years of education, perseverance and determination to pursue an ambition beyond the geographical boundaries of her home.
Her story also resonates with young girls across Odisha’s tribal and rural districts. It carries a simple message: where one begins does not necessarily determine how far one can go.
At the Nijukti Mela, 1,326 appointment letters were distributed across nine departments, including 364 in the Housing & Urban Development Department.
As she begins her career in government service, Alisha hopes to put her engineering skills to work for communities and contribute to improving public infrastructure and services.
Her journey from the hills of Pottangi to a government engineering post is, ultimately, a story of opportunity meeting determination.
