Bhubaneswar: Kharif paddy procurement in Odisha for the 2026-27 season will begin on November 1, with the state government starting the registration process for farmers. Farmers intending to sell their paddy through the government procurement system have been asked to complete their registration by August 31.
The registration process began on August 6, and farmers have been advised not to wait until the last date to register.
According to the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department, procurement will continue until March 31, 2027. The exercise will be conducted district-wise, keeping in view the harvesting period of the crop.
Farmers can register at their nearest authorised Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society/Large Area Multipurpose Cooperative Society (PACS/LAMPCS) or Pani Panchayat. They have been asked to collect a fresh registration form from the concerned cooperative society and submit the duly filled-in form between August 6 and August 31.
The registration form is also available on the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department’s website.
Sharecroppers will be eligible to participate in the registration process by submitting the required documents. Registration of both the sharecropper and the landowner will be carried out through Aadhaar-based e-KYC. The presence of the landowner will be mandatory during the registration process.
Farmers will also have to mention the month and fortnight during which they intend to sell their paddy during the Kharif procurement season.
The department has advised farmers to contact the cooperative society where they were registered during the previous year for the registration process.

The state government has stressed the need to bring a larger number of small and marginal farmers under the paddy procurement system so that they can benefit from government procurement.
Cooperative societies have been directed to provide fresh registration forms to all farmers interested in selling paddy. Society officials will digitise the information submitted by farmers through their respective login systems between August 6 and August 31.
Land unsuitable for cultivation, as well as land on which crops other than paddy have been cultivated, will not be registered for paddy sale.
The authorities have also directed officials to prepare an error-free list of registered farmers at the earliest, as any delay could affect subsequent procurement-related activities.
A dedicated help desk will function at the cooperative society level to assist farmers in filling out registration forms and completing the registration process.

The registration and procurement process is being undertaken by the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department, Cooperation Department, and Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department of the Odisha government.
