Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Wednesday took a significant step towards strengthening its technology and innovation ecosystem with the inauguration of an Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics and Japan Centre of Excellence in the state capital.
The AI, Robotics and Japan Centre of Excellence, along with a Japanese SAP Software Global Capability Centre (GCC), was inaugurated at the NITKAL Enterprise Services campus in Bhubaneswar.
The new facilities are expected to give a fresh impetus to Odisha’s efforts to promote advanced technologies, innovation and industry-oriented skill development, while further strengthening the state’s credentials as an emerging destination for technology-led investment.
With AI, robotics, semiconductors and advanced digital infrastructure increasingly driving the global economy, Odisha is seeking to build an ecosystem capable of attracting investments in future-oriented technology sectors.
The newly established centres are expected to support the development of a highly skilled workforce, promote research and innovation, strengthen industry-academia collaboration and enhance the state’s capacity to deliver technology-driven services at a global scale.
The initiative is also likely to open up new opportunities for Odisha’s youth through high-skill employment, specialised training and exposure to emerging technologies. By aligning industry requirements with skill development, the centres could help create a talent pool equipped to meet the demands of the evolving global technology landscape.
Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the state government has been focusing on expanding Odisha’s presence in technology and innovation. Its AI Policy, Semiconductor Policy and GCC Policy seek to attract investments and unlock opportunities in emerging technology sectors.
The NITKAL Enterprise Services initiative is expected to further expand the scope for global technology companies and investors in the state, while supporting Odisha’s broader ambition to move beyond the traditional ‘Make in Odisha’ narrative towards an ‘Innovate in Odisha’ ecosystem.
With a growing focus on advanced technology, skilled manpower, research and global technology services, the newly inaugurated centres are expected to contribute to Odisha’s transition towards a knowledge-driven and technology-based economy.
