Bhubaneswar:  Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday clarified that AgriStack registration has no connection with P-PASS registration for paddy procurement and urged farmers not to worry about any technical issues.

Addressing the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar, the CM said farmers are the “breadwinners” and strengthening their income is key to strengthening the state’s economy.

“Farmers are not just farmers for us, they are our breadwinners. The state’s economy cannot be strengthened unless their income increases,” Majhi said. He listed steps taken by the government including paddy procurement at Rs 3100 per quintal, Rs 10,000 annual assistance under PM-Kisan and CM-Kisan, Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana, Kamdhenu Scheme and schemes for fishermen and livestock keepers.

“The income of every farmer family has increased significantly. In the coming days, our government is committed to doing everything possible to increase this further,” he added.

Referring to reports of problems in farmer registration for paddy purchase in the last few days, the Chief Minister said the government has discussed the issue in detail. “I would like to make it clear to our farmer brothers and sisters today that AgriStack registration has nothing to do with P-Pass registration for paddy purchase.

Farmers need not worry about the problem of their AgriStack registration in paddy selling. Like every year, this year too, P-Pass registration will be done and the procurement program will be run on that basis,” Majhi stated.

On crop loss due to natural calamities, the CM said an initial assistance of Rs 136 crore has been provided to victims and farmers affected by the current floods. “In the first year of our government, there was a huge crop loss due to unseasonal rains. Although there was no provision in the Relief Code to compensate for this, we amended it and provided the necessary compensation,” he said.

He also highlighted women-centric schemes. Citing Subhadra and Lakhpati Didi programmes, he said more than 1 crore Subhadra beneficiaries and over 26 lakh Lakhpati Didis are now self-reliant for capital investment. The government has also launched ‘Mukhyamantri Kanyavivah Yojana’ and ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangal Yojana’.

Under Kanya Sumangal, each girl will receive Rs 1 lakh after graduation. “Due to all these schemes, today a girl child born in a poor family is not a ‘burden’ but a ‘blessing’ for her parents,” the Chief Minister said.
