Puri: Chhatisha Nijog, the apex body of servitors of the Shree Jagannath temple in Puri, met on Wednesday to finalise the ritual schedule for the month-long Kartik Brata.
Following the meeting, Puri Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida informed that the Kartik Brat rituals will be observed at the Srimandir from October 22 to November 24.
As per the schedule, the Dwara Phita (opening of temple doors) ritual will be performed daily at 4 am throughout the month of Kartik. This will be followed by the special Radha-Damodar Besha of Lord Jagannath from 6:30 am to 7:30 am. The Lord’s special ‘Bala Dhupa’ ritual will also be conducted during this month. Besides, the famous Harihara Besha of the sibling deities will be observed November 16, the Collector informed.
This year, the Panchuka Brata will be observed for four days instead of five days due to Tithi Kshaya (decay of lunar day). The Bankachuda Besha of Lord Jagannath will not be observed this time due to the decay of Dwadashi Tithi, informed the Collector.
