Bhubaneswar: In a major administrative initiative to strengthen flood management and expedite relief operations, the Odisha Government on Sunday deputed three senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to oversee preparedness, rescue, relief, and restoration activities in the flood-affected districts of Bhadrak, Baleshwar, and Jajpur.
According to an official order issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department, the officers have been directed to proceed to their respective districts immediately and remain stationed there until further orders to closely monitor the evolving flood situation and ensure effective coordination of relief efforts.
As per the order, Sudhansu Mohan Samal (RR-2010), Managing Director of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) Ltd., has been assigned to Bhadrak district. K. Sudarshan Chakravarthy (RR-2011), Managing Director of Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation (OSCSC) Ltd., has been deputed to Baleshwar, while P. Anvesha Reddy (RR-2017), Excise Commissioner, Odisha, has been assigned to Jajpur district.
The senior officers will work in close coordination with the respective district administrations to oversee flood management operations, monitor evacuation measures, ensure the timely distribution of relief materials, restore essential services, and address issues requiring immediate administrative intervention.
The state government has intensified its disaster management response amid the prevailing flood situation, with continuous monitoring of river water levels and regular field assessments. The deployment of senior IAS officers is expected to facilitate faster decision-making, improve inter-departmental coordination, and ensure prompt implementation of relief and restoration measures in the affected regions.
The move reflects the state government’s commitment to minimizing the impact of floods and providing timely assistance to affected communities through efficient on-ground supervision and administrative support.
