Bhubaneswar: In a major step towards promoting transparency and strengthening the cultural ecosystem in the state, the Odisha Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture on Saturday launched the ‘Ama Kalakara’ portal (https://amakalakara.odisha.gov.in). The portal was inaugurated by Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy.
The digital platform has been developed to promote and preserve Odisha’s rich art and cultural heritage by streamlining the engagement of registered cultural troupes for government-sponsored programmes. It aims to simplify the administrative process while ensuring greater accountability and efficiency.
The ‘Ama Kalakara’ portal features a user-friendly interface and supports mobile-based geo-tagging, enabling real-time monitoring of cultural performances. It will facilitate the transparent issuance of work orders to cultural troupes and ensure a systematic mechanism for their selection and engagement.
To curb duplication and malpractice, artists’ Aadhaar details will be linked to the portal, preventing multiple registrations and repeated engagements. This will help ensure that only eligible artists and cultural troupes are selected for various programmes.
The portal also requires the uploading of geo-tagged photographs and 360-degree videos of performances, allowing officials to verify events instantly. The digital documentation is expected to speed up the verification process and enable timely payment to artists.
According to the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, the ‘Ama Kalakara’ portal will bring greater transparency, efficiency and accountability to the management of cultural programmes while providing a robust digital platform for preserving and promoting Odisha’s vibrant cultural traditions.
