Bhubaneswar/Jayapur: Students of Government Polytechnic, Ambaguda, in Jayapur are set to receive training in emerging technologies such as electric vehicles (EVs), artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and Industry 4.0, as the institute signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with private training institutions on Sunday.
The initiative is aimed at bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry requirements and equipping students with practical skills in emerging technologies.
The MoUs were signed with Skyy Skill Academy Private Limited, Hyderabad, and Tech Communication Computer Academy Private Limited, Bhubaneswar. Under the partnership, Skyy Skill Academy will provide training in EV and battery technology, industrial training, curriculum development and short-term technical courses.
Tech Communication Computer Academy will provide practical training in AI, robotics, Industry 4.0, digital technologies and IT-enabled services.
The partnerships are expected to give students greater exposure to modern technologies and industry practices while helping them develop job-oriented skills. The initiatives will also facilitate stronger links between the institute and industries and provide students with opportunities to gain practical and industrial exposure.
Meanwhile, Industry, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain on Sunday laid the foundation stones for a 200-bed boys’ hostel and a 100-bed girls’ hostel at the institute.
The two hostel projects, with a combined capacity of 300 beds, are being constructed to strengthen residential facilities for students. The boys’ hostel has an estimated cost of Rs 9.17 crore, while the girls’ hostel will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 6.65 crore.
Once completed, the hostels are expected to provide safe and convenient accommodation to hundreds of students studying at the institute.
Jayapur MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati and Koraput MLA Raghuram Machha were among those present at the foundation-laying programme.
During his visit, Swain also held discussions with the institute’s principal and faculty members and reviewed its teaching system, academic progress and basic infrastructure facilities.
The initiatives assume significance in Koraput, a tribal-dominated district, where improving access to quality technical education and industry-oriented skills can create greater employment opportunities for local youth.
With the new hostel infrastructure and training partnerships, the Government Polytechnic in Jayapur is expected to strengthen its focus on practical learning and emerging technologies, helping students become better prepared for the changing demands of the job market.
