Bhubaneswar: In view of the intense rainfall forecast, the district administrations of Kendujhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Baleshwar, and Mayurbhanj districts have ordered the closure of all educational institutions today. This includes schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centres.
As per reports, the decision comes in the wake of a heavy rainfall warning issued for the five districts. As a precautionary step, the weekly public grievance hearing by the District Collector and Superintendent of Police scheduled in Joda block in Kendujhar district has also been postponed until further orders.
Similar closures have been announced for Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Baleshwar, and Jajpur districts. District administrations have advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious about weather-related risks.
Citizens have been urged to cooperate with authorities during this period of adverse weather, and stay updated through official channels of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and respective district administrations.
It is pertinent to mention that a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has raised concerns across Odisha, with widespread rainfall already affecting many parts of the state.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rain over the next three days, prompting district administrations to begin preparedness measures.
