Bhubaneswar: In view of the prevailing flood situation in the state, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has deputed three senior leaders to the major flood-affected districts of Jajpur, Bhadrak and Baleshwar.
According to an office order issued on Monday by BJD President Naveen Patnaik, Pradip Kumar Amat has been assigned to Jajpur, Dr Arun Kumar Sahoo to Bhadrak, and Sanjay Kumar Das Burma to Baleshwar.
The leaders have been directed to visit the flood-affected areas, interact with the affected people, and coordinate with the district administration, local BJD leaders and functionaries to ensure proper relief and restoration measures. The order has come into force with immediate effect.
The appointment comes amid a serious flood situation in Baleshwar, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts, where the Baitarani and Jalaka rivers are overflowing.
It is pertinent to mention that several rivers in Odisha continue to flow above or near danger levels on Monday, leading to widespread inundation of villages, agricultural land and roads in Bhadrak, Baleshwar, Jajpur, Kendujhar and Kendrapada districts.
