Bhubaneswar: The Information and Public Relations Department conducted a mass pledge recitation today as part of a campaign to create a drug-free society and spread awareness about the ill effects of drugs.
Director of the Department Anuj Kumar Das Patnaik, Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Behuria, Joint Director Sucheta Priyadarshini, Deputy Director Ashwini Kumar Bhoi and other officers and employees participated in the oath-taking ceremony and recited the pledge together.
The officers and employees took an oath to abstain from drug use themselves and to spread awareness among their families, friends and people in society about the harmful effects of drugs.
The department said a state-wide drug-free pledge campaign is being organized today. The campaign aims to involve at least 10 percent of the people of the state. The oath ceremony is being held in collaboration with schools, colleges, government offices, panchayats and various social organizations across Odisha.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at building a collective resolve for a drug-free society and encouraging youth to stay away from substance abuse.
