Baleshwar: An eight-foot-long python was rescued from a house in Mirigini village under Ward No. 4 of Nilagiri NAC in Baleshwar district on Tuesday.
According to reports, the python entered the house of Pradeep Kumar Pradhan and killed two chickens and ate seven eggs. Pradhan noticed the reptile inside his house and immediately alerted the Snake Helpline team.
Acting on the information, the Snake Helpline team reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. The team safely rescued the python without causing any harm to the reptile.
The rescued python was subsequently handed over to the Forest Department. Forest officials later released it into the Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary, according to reports.
The Forest Department urged people to remain cautious and avoid attempting to catch or handle snakes on their own. Residents were advised to immediately inform the Forest Department or authorised snake rescue teams if they spot snakes in residential areas.
