New Delhi: India presented its Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) framework to BRICS countries and advanced discussions on a proposed BRICS DPI Repository and pilot projects for DPI solutions, as the Focus Group on DPI and the Digital BRICS Task Force met in Pune on Tuesday.

The meetings were held on the second day of the in-person sessions of the BRICS ICT Track, alongside the continuing proceedings of the 7th Meeting of the BRICS Working Group for Cooperation in ICTs.

The Focus Group on DPI, whose Terms of Reference were adopted in 2025, received an update from its Chair and presentations from India and other member countries on their respective national approaches to digital public infrastructure.

India presented its DPI experience to BRICS members and also shared a concept note on the proposed BRICS Digital Public Infrastructure Repository and BRICS pilot projects involving DPI solutions.

The discussions highlighted DPI as a key enabler for affordable, inclusive, reliable, secure, sustainable and citizen-centric delivery of digital services. The framework is guided by principles including openness, interoperability, digital sovereignty and national ownership, while respecting domestic laws and regulations, cybersecurity, resilience, privacy and trust.

The BRICS Working Group also reviewed reports on webinars conducted during the year covering capacity building for secure, inclusive and sustainable digital telecom infrastructure, cooperation on submarine cable networks and development, and digital ecosystem cooperation among BRICS countries.

The Digital BRICS Task Force reviewed its activities and provided an overview of the Digital BRICS Forum 2026. Members also discussed draft Terms of Reference for a Digital Applications Expert Group and a Digital Governance Expert Group.

The proceedings of the Working Group will conclude on Wednesday, ahead of the Digital BRICS Forum and Expo scheduled for August 20 and the 12th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting on August 21.
