Bhubaneswar: In a major enforcement drive against road safety violations, the State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha, issued as many as 9,387 e-challans across the state on August 18, 2026, as part of its efforts to curb traffic violations and promote safer road practices.
According to the STA, Odisha, riding without a helmet accounted for the highest number of violations, with 5,197 challans issued to offenders. This was followed by 819 challans for overspeeding, 260 for driving without valid insurance, and 239 challans for triple riding.
The enforcement drive highlights the authorities’ continued focus on ensuring compliance with road safety regulations and reducing the risk of road accidents caused by traffic violations.
The STA, Odisha, urged motorists and other road users to strictly follow traffic rules, wear helmets while riding two-wheelers, avoid overspeeding, and ensure that their vehicles have valid insurance and other required documents.
