Bhubaneswar: A peddler who was swept away by strong flood currents in Baleshwar district was rescued by local youths on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in Padanapada village under Talanagar panchayat in Soro block.
As per reports, the peddler was caught in the powerful flood stream and carried away. He managed to hold on to a tree branch after floating nearly 15 feet below. The goods he was carrying and his vehicle he was travelling in were also washed away in the current.
After being dragged about 25 metres, he clung to a branch of a tree and took shelter on it. Spotting him in danger, youths from Padanapada village quickly reached the spot and rescued him.
Although the peddler was saved, most of his saleable items were swept away in the strong current.
