Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped a brick kiln in Anupada under Kendrapara Sadar police limits on Monday after miscreants opened fire and fled, leaving a worker injured.
The injured has been identified as Goura Chandra Rout. According to information, Gaur Chandra was busy with work at the brick kiln when a miscreant suddenly opened fire at him. The bullet hit his right leg.
Following the firing, an atmosphere of fear prevailed at the spot. The injured worker was immediately shifted for treatment and is currently undergoing treatment under a doctor’s supervision for the gunshot wound to his right leg.
The exact motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. Police are investigating whether the firing was linked to an extortion attempt or stemmed from a previous enmity.
On receiving information, Kendrapara Sadar police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the culprits and ascertain the reason behind the shooting.
