Bhubaneswar: The state government has approved a two-fold increase in the annual uniform allowance for officers and employees of the prisons department. The proposal was approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
As per the decision, the annual clothing allowance for 378 officers, ranging from DIG of Prisons to Assistant Matron, has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000.Similarly, the uniform allowance for 2,122 chief warders, warders and women warders has been raised from Rs 4,000 to Rs 8,000 per year.
A total of 2,500 jail officers and employees will benefit from the revised allowance. Officials said the new uniform allowance will be implemented from the current financial year. An additional Rs. 96.22 lakh will be spent per year.
