Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped Adenigarh village under Harbhanga block on Friday night after an eight-foot-long python slithered into a house in search of food.
According to the family, the reptile entered the premises after dark and made its way to the chicken coop. It swallowed a chicken and, unable to move after the heavy meal, remained stuck inside the house. The sight of the large snake left the family frightened. They immediately contacted the Snake Helpline and requested help.
A rescue team rushed to the spot soon after receiving the call. The rescuers tracked down the python inside the house and carefully carried out the operation to avoid any harm to the snake or the residents.
After some effort, the team successfully captured the python and released it later in a safe forest area. Officials said such incidents are common during monsoon as snakes move out in search of food and shelter.
