Bhubaneswar: A 26-year-old woman from Odisha was killed after being allegedly hit by a speeding Aston Martin driven by the son of an Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP near Inorbit Mall in Hyderabad on August 16.
The deceased has been identified as Bharati Mukhi, a native of Odisha. She was working as a sales executive at a store inside Inorbit Mall in Madhapur.
Police said Bharati and a few of her friends were crossing the road near the mall when the luxury car hit her. She suffered severe head injuries. Locals rushed her to a hospital in Jubilee Hills, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The accused has been identified as Lingamaneni Sanjush, 21, son of Jana Sena leader and MP Lingamaneni Ramesh. A video of the accident later surfaced on social media. Based on a complaint by the store manager, Madhapur police registered a case and seized the Aston Martin involved in the crash.
Officials said a case has been registered under Section 106(1) of the BNS for causing death due to rash and negligent driving. Sanjush’s blood samples have been sent for forensic testing. However, police have not made any arrest so far. Investigation into the incident is underway.
