Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area that was earlier over north coastal Odisha and adjoining regions has now moved and lay over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of north Odisha, Jharkhand and the northwest Bay of Bengal at 05: 30 am on Monday.
According to the latest update from the India Meteorological Department, the system is likely to move nearly north-westwards across Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and Jharkhand during the next 24 hours. Squally weather with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, is very likely to prevail over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, as well as along and off the coasts of West Bengal, adjoining Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh till the night of August 24.
Sea conditions are expected to remain rough to very rough over the same areas till August 24.
Fishermen and coastal residents have been advised to remain cautious.
