Bhubaneswar: Schools in the flood-affected areas of Jajpur district will remain closed today. The district administration has declared a holiday for 162 schools across eight blocks, including Bari and Dasarathpur, citing concerns over student safety and commuting difficulties.
According to reports, continuous heavy rainfall for the past few days has led to a rise in water levels of rivers and streams in many places in the district, creating flood situation. In several areas, roads and communication networks have been disrupted, making it difficult for students to travel to and from school.
Taking the situation seriously, the Jajpur district administration decided to shut schools in the affected blocks to avoid any risk to the safety of students.
Officials noted that the ongoing rescue and relief operations in the flood-hit regions were also factored into the decision.
Meanwhile, administrative efforts are continuing in the affected areas. Priority is being given to draining flood water, restoring damaged roads, improving conditions on the ground, and ensuring that necessary assistance reaches the people.
