Bhubaneswar: In view of heavy rainfall, prevailing flood conditions, waterlogging and ongoing restoration work, the district administrations of Bhadrak and Jajpur have ordered the closure of schools today as a precautionary measure.
In Bhadrak district, 81 schools across three blocks — Bhadrak, Tihidi and Chandbali — will remain closed. The order has been issued by the Bhadrak District Collector.
Besides, all Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) across Bhadrak district have been directed to remain closed on August 25. The Bhadrak District Collector issued the order in the interest of the safety and security of children.
“In view of the prevailing flood situation and water logging in Bhadrak District, it is hereby ordered that the list enclosed Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) of different ICDS Projects, shall remain closed on 25.08.2026 (Tuesday) in the interest of the safety and security of the children. The concerned CDPOs shall ensure strict compliance with the above order and communicate the same to all concerned”, read the notification issued by Bhadrak administration.
In neighbouring Jajpur district, 93 schools in five blocks — Binjharpur, Bari, Rasulpur, Dasarathpur and Dharmasala — will also stay shut for the day.
The decision was taken by the Jajpur district administration due to the flood and waterlogging situation.
Both district administrations have taken the steps keeping in mind the safety of students and young children amid the adverse weather and flood-related challenges.
Adequate stocks of Anti-Snake Venom, bleaching powder, Halazone tablets and ORS have been kept ready in flood-affected districts.
