Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for six districts of Odisha, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over Sundargada, Jharsuguda, Bargada, Sambalpur, Subarnapur and Boudh on Tuesday.
A yellow warning for heavy rainfall has also been sounded for 11 districts, including Anugola, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are likely at one or two places across several parts of the state.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely at many places over all districts of Odisha during the day.
According to the IMD, the weather system is being influenced by a low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of Jharkhand and north Odisha. An associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.
The system is likely to move nearly northwestwards across Jharkhand and north Odisha during the next 24 hours.
The IMD has advised people in the affected districts to remain cautious and take necessary precautions against heavy rainfall, waterlogging and strong winds.
