Balangir: In a bizarre turn of events, a youth died after allegedly stepping on an electric wire laid to trap wild boars in a forested area of Guinchadihi village under Larambha police station, while he was reportedly eloping with his sister-in-law.
The deceased was identified as Kshetra Bag of Chandanjuri village. According to information, Bag was allegedly taking his sister-in-law from Guinchadihi with the intention of marrying her when the two entered a forested area.
Bag reportedly came in contact with an electric wire allegedly laid to kill wild boars and died of electrocution on the spot. His sister-in-law then left the area and informed her family about the incident.
However, when the family members reached the spot, Bag’s body was reportedly missing, triggering a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding its disappearance.
Acting on a complaint lodged at Larambha police station, police launched a search with the help of a scientific team and sniffer dogs. After nearly 15 hours, the body was recovered from a cave in a hill located around four kilometres from the suspected electrocution site.
Police have seized the body and begun further investigation to determine who removed it from the original spot and why. The role of the electric wire allegedly laid to trap wild boars is also being examined as part of the probe.
