Bhubaneswar: In a major development, Nayapalli Police have arrested Ajit Sahu, son of former Odisha minister Nrusingha Sahu, in connection with an alleged cheating case involving Rajya Sabha MP Sujeet Kumar.
Police arrested Ajit from Nuasahi Apartment in Nayapalli on the strength of a warrant issued in the case. He is accused of allegedly cheating the MP by promising to arrange land.
The case dates back to 2024, when a complaint was lodged against Ajit at Tughlaq Road police station in Delhi. Following the complaint, Delhi Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the alleged fraud.
Ajit’s repeated failure to appear before the court despite summons led the Delhi Patiala House Court to declare him an absconder and subsequently issue a warrant against him.
Acting on the warrant, Nayapalli Police tracked him down in Bhubaneswar and took him into custody. Further legal action in the case is underway.
Ajit is the son of Nrusingha Sahu, who served as Transport Minister in the previous BJD government in Odisha.
