Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain induced by Cyclone Arnab triggered a fresh landslide on the Kalinga Ghat road in in Kandhamal district on Thursday.
As per reports, a massive boulder rolled down the hillside near Andharikot, blocking the stretch. Notably, this is the same location on National Highway-157 that was washed away on September 24 due to incessant rainfall.
The recurrence has sparked concern as the restoration work at the site was still underway and yet to be completed.
The Kalinga Ghat is a crucial link connecting Ganjam and Kandhamal districts. As the stretch near Andharikot has been witnessing frequent landslides, a guard wall was being constructed to check further erosion. The latest incident has further complicated the ongoing repair efforts.
