Kendrapada: The District Collector and Magistrate of Kendrapada has suspended two Panchayat Executive Officers (PEOs) of Rajkanika Block with immediate effect for persistent negligence in relief and rescue operations during the flood, misconduct, unauthorised absence, insubordination, alleged misappropriation of Old Age Pension (OAP) funds, and serious irregularities in government duty.
The orders were issued by the Office of the Collector & District Magistrate, Kendrapada based on reports received from the Block Development Officer (BDO), Rajkanika.
As per the order, Kashiray Majhi, PEO of Rajkanika Block, has been placed under suspension. The action follows the BDO’s letter citing the above charges.
Similarly, Dasa Murmu, PEO of Bharigada Gram Panchayat under Rajkanika Block, has been suspended on identical grounds based on the BDO’s letter. The suspensions have been ordered by the competent authority under Rule-12(1) of the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1962, pending departmental proceedings.
During the period of suspension, the headquarters of both officers have been fixed at the Panchayat Samiti Office, Garadpur. They shall not leave the headquarters without prior permission of the Block Development Officer, Garadpur. They are entitled to subsistence allowance as per Rule-90 of the Odisha Service Code.
