Bhubaneswar: The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department of the Odisha government has intensified its crackdown on individuals illegally stockpiling and selling LPG gas cylinders across the state.
As per the official data released by the department, raids were conducted at 3,808 locations. During these operations, a total of 8,349 gas cylinders were seized. The department has registered 46 FIRs and initiated 495 cases under the Essential Commodities (EC) Act. Besides, nine persons have been arrested so far in connection with the illegal activities.
The department stated that continuous action is being taken against those involved in the unauthorized storage and black-marketing of LPG cylinders to ensure smooth supply to genuine consumers.
