Sambalpur: A 36-year-old man succumbed to bullet injuries in a firing incident reported under Burla police station limits on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Md Anish.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the incident stemmed from a personal dispute and longstanding grievance between the individuals involved. Police have detained the accused, Raja Swami of Mangala Bazar, Jharsuguda, at Burla police station.
The weapon used in the offence has also been seized. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
Police have clarified that the incident appears to be limited to a personal dispute between the parties concerned, with no indication at this stage of any random or wider threat to the general public.
