Bhubaneswar: All schools in Baragada district will remain closed today following a red warning issued by the India Meteorological Department for heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The District Education Officer, Baragada, issued the order on the directions of the Collector and District Magistrate. The order states that, in view of the predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall and the red warning for the district, all schools shall remain closed on August 31.
“Keeping in view to the prediction of heavy to very heavy rainfall and the red warning issued for Baragada District by the India Meteorology Department, it is hereby declared that, all schools under the district shall remain closed on date 31.08.2026 (Monday),” read the notification.
Copies of the order have been sent to the District Welfare Officer, all Block Education Officers, principals, headmasters and headmistresses of schools in the district for information and necessary action. Parents and students are advised to stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel amid the weather alert.
