Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration SJTA) has announced that the counting and weighing of the precious ornaments stored in the temple’s Ratna Bhandar will commence today and continue for two days — Monday (31 August) and Tuesday (1 September 2026).
According to the official notice issued by the temple administration, the exercise is being carried out in accordance with the government-approved Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The inventory of the gem-studded ornaments kept in the inner Ratna Bhandar of the Jagannath temple will take place under strict security arrangements.
The high-level committee overseeing the process will be chaired by Justice Biswanath Rath. Shree Mandir Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee, authorised servitors, the temple goldsmith (bania), a gemologist, the Bhandar Mekap and the Deulakaran will also be present during the counting and weighing.
The rare gold ornaments of Mahaprabhu, along with diamonds, pearls, leela and other precious stones, will be carefully counted, weighed and matched against the official inventory list prepared in 1978. The entire process will be conducted under continuous CCTV surveillance, with complete videography and photography.
Meanwhile, the temple administration has clarified that public darshan of the deities will continue as usual from near the outer katha during the inventory work.
