New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu visited the Delhi Traffic Police Headquarters, Todapur, on Monday and interacted with officers on issues pertaining to traffic congestion, road safety and preparations for the upcoming BRICS Summit.

The Lieutenant Governor was also briefed about the traffic arrangements being planned by Delhi Traffic Police for the upcoming BRICS Summit to be held in Delhi next month, wherein Heads of State/Government, dignitaries and top delegates of foreign countries will be present.

He was assured of the foolproof, tech-driven arrangements being made by Delhi Traffic Police for the safe and seamless movement of foreign Heads and dignitaries, as well as the Prime Minister and other Ministers, during the Summit, while ensuring minimum inconvenience to the general public.

While discussing measures to mitigate traffic-related problems, Sandhu directed senior traffic police leadership to work in close coordination with other agencies to ensure smoother traffic movement, an official statement said.

The Lieutenant Governor also stressed stricter enforcement of road discipline and proactive management of congestion hotspots.

He emphasised the importance of citizen participation and seamless inter-agency coordination in building safer roads, more efficient traffic management and greater public confidence, underlining that a coordinated, technology-enabled and citizen-centric approach is essential for a safer and better-managed Delhi.

Special. Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ajay Chaudhry, Joint Commissioner Sanjay Tyagi and three Additional Commissioners of Police (Traffic), along with Deputy Commissioners of Police (Traffic) and other officials were present.

During the meeting, Sandhu was briefed about various schemes being implemented by Delhi Traffic Police to improve the traffic situation, such as Traffic Pathshala to sensitise violators, Traffic Panchayat to involve civic agencies and other stakeholders in the betterment of traffic management, and special enforcement drives against dangerous traffic violations.
