Bhubaneswar: The Biju Patnaik Central Library, NIT Rourkela, in collaboration with registered book vendors, organised a three-day Book Exhibition 2026 at the Rajendra Mishra Exhibition Hall from 1 to 3 September 2026. The exhibition aims to provide the Institute community with access to a diverse collection of books and support the enrichment of the library’s resources.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Director, NIT Rourkela, in the presence of Prof. Durga Prasad Mohapatra, Chairman, Library; Ms. Puspita Mishra, HOD, Biju Patnaik Central Library, along with Deans, faculty members, staff and students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rao expressed concern over the declining habit of reading printed books in the digital age. He emphasised that despite the rapid growth of digital information, books continue to preserve valuable knowledge, literature and ideas for generations. He encouraged the academic community to maintain a strong connection with books and the culture of reading.
The exhibition features books covering a range of academic and general-interest subjects, offering students, researchers, faculty and staff an opportunity to explore titles of their interest. The event also provides an avenue for identifying and selecting relevant books for inclusion in the Central Library’s collection.
The Book Exhibition 2026 will remain open until 3 September 2026 at the Rajendra Mishra Exhibition Hall, and members of the NIT Rourkela community are encouraged to visit the exhibition.
